Interior enthusiast Nik went all-in with a three-part DIY project using Maestro Latt
Nik Vanhoof, a young thirty-something from Mol, lives with her partner Sjoerd and a small menagerie of pets—two dogs, a cat, a few rabbits, and chickens—in a newly built home they’ve owned for about five years. Since moving in, Nik has been putting her passion for interior design to work, turning the house into a warm, cozy home for everyone who lives there.
“I have a real passion for interior design and love discovering new products that fit my style,” says Nik. “My style is minimalist, with a touch of Nordic and Japandi.”
Her passion for interiors doesn’t stop at home—she also shares it on Instagram. And it was through that channel that she discovered Maestro Latt. The start of a true love story, as Nik immediately decided to use the stunning Latt wall panels to transform several rooms in her home.
The living room: part I
Décor: Matte Black
Sometimes the easiest solution gives the best result. Initially, Nik tried creating her own feature wall by cutting, sanding, priming, and painting individual wooden slats—hoping to achieve a beautifully profiled wall. But the result wasn’t quite what she had envisioned.
The DIY project proved more challenging than expected, and that’s where Maestro Latt wall panels came to the rescue: perfectly straight lines, evenly spaced slats, and quick installation. The result? A matte black accent wall that visually breaks up the flat kitchen wall and adds striking contrast.

Décor: Castle Oak
Next, Nik turned her attention to another corner of the living room. By opting for contrasting Castle Oak wall panels—complementary to the floor finish—she immediately added warmth and coziness to the space.
Notably, she combined the textured Maestro Latt panels with smooth Maestro Panel wall panels in the same décor. Thanks to the tongue-and-groove system, the panels click seamlessly together, creating a beautiful optical effect. The result is a stunning feature wall that became the focal point of the living area.
The bedroom
Décor: Matte Black
Finally, Nik tackled the bedroom—a room where she had previously painted the back wall to mimic the effect of decorative plaster. The Maestro Latt panels now extend only partway up the wall, emphasizing the complementarity between the black slats and the textured plaster.
A wooden frame was built first, and the panels were simply stapled in place—without compromising on strength. The Maestro Latt headboard wall is sturdy enough to mount bedside tables or lighting directly onto it, combining function with refined design.
